Do's and Don'ts for your visits to D3 college campuses this Fall

We’ve received a lot of questions from recruits working on their college lists that are having trouble deciding how to rank their preferred schools.
If you fall into that category, don’t worry.
The truth is, it is very challenging to evaluate whether or not you’ll like a college or university without setting foot on campus. Sure, you can look at D3 School rankings or hear from former D3 student-athletes, but there is nothing like experience it for yourself.
We would advise all prospective D3 student-athletes to talk with coaches about potential times to visit this Fall. When you finally make it on campus, here are some Do’s and Don’ts to ensure you get the most out of your experience:
DO ✅
Attend at Least 1 Class With a Current Student-Athlete
Let the coach know what subjects you’re interested in ahead of time and ask if they can find a player with a relevant class you can attend.
When you’re in the class, here are a few things to evaluate:
Is the player engaged (taking notes, asking questions, etc.)?
Where do they sit in the class?
What is their relationship like with the professor?
If a player falls asleep or never participates it may seem trivial, but it speaks to the culture of the team more generally. Success on the court or field usually goes hand-in-hand with habits and behaviors off of it.
Join a Team Activity
Wondering how much you’ll play at a certain school? Join a team activity (Lift, Watch Practice, or Scrimmage…if it is available) to get valuable context.
