Welcome back to Recruit to the Real World!

Today we’re bringing you more D3 focused college financial aid resources. We’ll be exploring options to help make college affordable in 7 of the 35 states that have D3 schools - picking up with Indiana and ending with Massachusetts 💰

ICYMI - Here’s Part 1 that covered Arkansas to Illinois

Before we start, we want to highlight a cause we care about. And no, this isn’t an Ad - it is a D3 athlete founded charity that is making the world a better place through sport…

Giving Tuesday - Help Maximize our Donation

We love highlighting the on-campus and “real world” accomplishments of D3 athletes.

In previous years, we’ve used Giving Tuesday to do just that - promoting and contributing to outstanding organizations with D3 founders like Brothers@.

This year, we want to amplify the work of another D3 founder - Adrian Romero - and donate to his Bilingual Básquetbol Initiative. Here’s how you can help maximize the impact:

  • Share our Giving Tuesday tweet - We’ll donate $1 per retweet (up to $500)

  • Donate directly to their GoFundMe

Want to learn more about Adrian and the BBI? He joined us for an episode of the Student Athlete Sessions podcast back in June. Check it out!

Now let’s get back to D3 Financial Aid 👇

D3 College Financial Aid by State (pt. 2)

There are 440+ D3 schools across 35 states!

Our Goal: Help you find ways to save money so you do not have to pay full tuition to attend a D3 college or university. Here’s how we broke this post down:

  • Each state’s best resource for finding Federal/State aid 💰

  • A deep dive on one D3 school’s financial aid offerings per state

  • We’ll do the remaining states over the next few weeks!

  • Here are some helpful college scholarship and financial aid definitions 🎓

Let’s dive into resources for Indiana through Massachusetts…

INDIANA SCHOLARSHIPS

The 21st Century Scholars Program is a need-based scholarship program for Indiana residents who enroll in the program during their 7th or 8th grade. Scholars commit to completing a specific set of activities in high school to be eligible for the scholarship, including maintaining good grades and staying out of trouble.

D3’s like DePauw and Wabash are both partner schools for the program. More on Wabash’s financial aid offerings below.

WABASH COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID

In addition to some generous merit aid (screenshot below) Wabash has a cool regionally focused Need-Based Financial Aid program. Academically qualified Federal Pell Grant recipients students from Chicago, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and eastern Iowa will receive grants to cover the balance of all tuition and fees not covered by government grants (Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2024).

This is why we say it pays to have good grades.

IOWA SCHOLARSHIPS

The Robert D. Blue Scholarship is available to Iowa students who demonstrate literary and scholastic ability, good moral character, and serious-mindedness.

Applicants must attend or plan to attend an Iowa college/university and prizes range from $500 to $1,000.

COE COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID

Coe has a number of scholarship categories, but we want to focus on something that they included on their financial aid website: Clear terms for renewing scholarships.

With any school you’re applying to, make sure you know what will be required to renew your merit aid each semester. It could be something as simple as maintaining a specific GPA or there could be more involved. Either way, read through information like this when you see it.
